During a church service in Nyeri County, Governor Kahiga delivered a stern message to President William Ruto, criticizing him for sidelining Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua after his impeachment.
Kahiga emphasized that throughout Kenya’s history, presidential hopefuls have relied on backing from the central region, and Gachagua now holds significant influence as the spokesman of the Kikuyu community.
According to Kahiga, no presidential candidate can succeed without Gachagua's support. He cautioned that those who overlook Gachagua's role will struggle to secure votes in the 2027 elections.
"No one will get even a single vote from Kenyans without Gachagua's backing," Kahiga declared, urging Ruto to strengthen his relationship with the deputy president to boost his chances of re-election.
Kahiga further advised Ruto not to listen to those urging him to distance himself from Gachagua, stressing that the deputy president's influence is crucial for any presidential contender’s success.
