A well-known eatery in Westlands has confirmed that authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a worker at their establishment earlier this month.
In a statement issued on Friday, December 13, the restaurant revealed that its security team is working with the police to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation follows the release of CCTV footage on Thursday showing a man, believed to be a casual worker, lifeless in the elevator at the establishment. According to reports, the worker’s body was discovered on the morning of Thursday, December 5.
While the cause of death remains unclear, media outlets suggest that the man passed away in the early hours of that morning. His death was promptly reported to Parklands Police Station, but there are growing concerns over the progress of the investigation.
In its statement, the restaurant emphasized that the matter is being treated with "the utmost seriousness" and assured the public that full cooperation is being given to law enforcement to ensure a fair and thorough inquiry.
The eatery also urged the public to refrain from spreading unfounded rumors or circulating images related to the incident, calling such actions "insensitive" and urging respect for the grieving family.
Police have yet to provide an update on the case, which remains under investigation.
The case comes amid rising concerns over violence in the country, with 339 reported murders in the first three quarters of 2024, slightly higher than in previous years.
