President William Ruto has vowed to defend police actions that align with the law, emphasizing that national security is non-negotiable for Kenya's future progress. Speaking at the launch of the National Police Service and State Department of Correctional Service strategic plans (2023-2027), Ruto urged Kenyans to respect the rule of law and cooperate with security agencies.
He called on parents, religious leaders, and the public to play a more active role in addressing societal issues, noting that security can't be left solely to law enforcement. "Parents and the religious community must also step up in guiding our youth," he said.
Ruto reiterated that peace, security, and stability are fundamental to Kenya's growth, stressing, "This country must be secure for any meaningful progress to happen." He also pledged to complete the police modernization program by 2027, ensuring law enforcement has the resources needed to protect the nation.
