Ruto Honors Hundreds of Kenyans with Prestigious Awards on Jamhuri Day

President William Ruto celebrated Kenya's 61st Jamhuri Day by recognizing the outstanding contributions of hundreds of Kenyans from various sectors, including military leaders, government officials, and public servants.

Among the distinguished recipients was Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, who was awarded the Second Class Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart (OGH). Other notable awardees included General Charles Kahariri, Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau, Taita Taveta Governor Andrew Mwadime, and prominent figures such as Lelelit Jonathan, Salim Mvurya, and Nuh Junet Sheikh.

In addition, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga, received the prestigious First Class Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear for his exemplary service. Ingonga had previously been elected President of the Africa Prosecutors' Association in July 2024.

The President also honored 73 other eminent individuals, including Konza Technopolis CEO Kipchumba Tanui, Public Works PS Joel Psimatwa, and Environment PS Festus Ng'eno, among others. Additionally, former Police IG David Kimaiyo and several senior military officials were recognized with the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart and other prestigious honors.

In total, hundreds of Kenyans were acknowledged with awards for their exceptional service in various fields, including the Order of the Grand Warrior, Silver Star of Kenya, and Head of State’s Commendations. These honors, awarded on the recommendation of a national committee, celebrate those who have made significant contributions to the nation.

The highest honor, the Chief of the Order of the Golden Heart (OGH), remains Kenya's most distinguished award, reserved for individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary service to the country.
