President William Ruto has called on Kenyans to engage in constructive criticism grounded in truth, urging citizens to challenge his administration's policies based on facts rather than falsehoods. Speaking during the Jamhuri Day celebrations on December 12, 2024, Ruto warned that persistent negativity could derail the country's development and damage its democratic progress.
The President emphasized that Kenya's growth and achievements are at risk when criticism is not rooted in reality, as it fosters division and undermines the nation's unity. He stressed that reckless negativity could harm the country's future by sabotaging development and weakening democratic institutions.
Ruto also defended key government programs, such as the fertilizer subsidy and the Taifa Care initiative, which he described as transformative. He provided evidence of the administration's successes, including lower food prices, reduced inflation, and improvements in farming productivity.
Addressing critics, Ruto challenged them to acknowledge the tangible progress his government has made, warning that soon, even the most vocal detractors will struggle to deny the visible benefits of his policies. He pointed to upcoming milestones, such as the delivery of affordable housing and the creation of jobs for thousands of Kenyans across various sectors.
