Senator Threatens Resignation, Accuses DCI of Targeting Him Over Friend's Controversy

Senator Methu has vowed to resign, claiming the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is plotting his arrest following a mistake made by his friend, Mwangi James. The senator took to his X account on Tuesday to announce that he had been summoned by the DCI for questioning after his friend allegedly criticized Kenyans who attended President Ruto's Jamhuru Day speech.

In his statement, Methu accused the DCI of mistreatment and hinted at the possibility of facing charges. "They are planning to send me to jail," he said, expressing frustration with the ongoing pressure from the DCI.

Methu, known for his outspoken nature, said that the continuous summons were taking a toll on him, and he could no longer serve as a senator under such conditions. He declared that his best course of action would be to step down and pledge his support to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, whom he believes will reward him in the future.
