Teargas and Tension as Anti-Abduction Protesters Clash with Police in Nairobi

Protests erupted in Nairobi's Central Business District on Monday, December 30, 2024, as demonstrators gathered to raise their voices against a rising number of abductions. The group, chanting for an end to forced disappearances and demanding the release of abducted Kenyans, were met with a heavy response from the police.

The situation quickly escalated as law enforcement fired teargas canisters to disperse the crowd. Tensions soared near Aga Khan Walk, where a section of the protesters had gathered. What began as a peaceful demonstration soon turned into running battles, with protesters scrambling to avoid the teargas and the police moving in to restore order.

The protest was a stark reminder of the ongoing concern over abduction cases in the country, highlighting the frustrations of many citizens seeking justice and accountability.
