A former UDA politician, Benjamin Munye, is recovering in hospital following a serious accident in Vihiga County on Tuesday. Munye, who lost his parliamentary seat in 2022 under the UDA party, was involved in a head-on collision with a 14-seater matatu. Thankfully, no lives were lost in the incident, although several passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Munye is currently receiving care at Mbale Referral Hospital. The accident has sparked renewed calls for road safety as the Christmas holiday season approaches, with more incidents being reported across the country.
This accident follows another recent tragedy in Mombasa, where a vehicle carrying MPs heading to the East African Community (EAC) games was involved in a crash. Authorities continue to urge caution on the roads during this busy time of year.
