Vihiga Teenager Desperately Seeks Help as Abusive Father Hinders His Education

A 20-year-old man from Vihiga, identified as Joseph Okelo, has bravely revealed that his father has been mistreating him and causing distress every night. Joseph, a Form Three student at Ivora Secondary School, shared that his father has been forcing him to complete all household chores, including cooking, before he can sleep. This ongoing pressure has made it difficult for him to focus on his studies.

Joseph recounted that his father evicted his mother two months ago, further worsening his situation. "At night, I can't sleep in peace. I have to make sure all the work is done, and this is affecting my ability to study," he said. "I'm struggling to keep up with my schoolwork because of the constant demands."

Desperate for relief, Joseph has called on authorities in Vihiga County to intervene and help him escape his difficult home life. He expressed concern that without support, his academic future is at risk, and he may not achieve his goals in the coming year.

Speaking to Vihiga News, Joseph also highlighted the financial difficulties he faces, as his father has not contributed to his school fees since his mother was forced to leave. "If someone could sponsor me, I would be grateful. School fees have become a huge challenge," he said, hoping for a chance to continue his education in peace.
