Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has made it clear that he will not follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, who he claims used the Deputy President's office for political gain. Kindiki, speaking in Embu on January 17, 2025, emphasized that his focus will be on uniting the country, advancing national development, and improving the economic well-being of Kenyans, rather than pursuing political interests.
Kindiki contrasted his approach with that of Gachagua, whose tenure was marred by political maneuvering, resulting in his eventual impeachment. The Deputy President affirmed his commitment to helping President William Ruto steer the country toward growth, particularly through key initiatives in infrastructure, youth empowerment, and overall economic advancement.
He assured the public that his leadership would be driven by a transformative agenda that leaves no region behind, with a focus on delivering tangible results. Kindiki underscored the importance of including local communities in the development process, urging them to actively participate in monitoring progress on government projects.
Pledging accountability and a results-driven approach, Kindiki encouraged the people of Embu to hold him to task on the promises made, especially in areas like agriculture, road infrastructure, and empowering youth and women.
In distancing himself from premature political campaigns, he noted that while the time for politics would come, his immediate priority is fulfilling his role in delivering on the Kenya Kwanza administration's agenda for all Kenyans.
