A youth caucus in Kisumu is urging President William Ruto to appoint more young leaders to key government positions, including several Principal Secretaries. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Jardon Junior, a member of the Kisumu County Youth Caucus, emphasized the importance of including Gen Z voices in leadership.
Junior praised President Ruto’s efforts towards youth inclusion, noting that the ongoing push for youth representation, sparked by the June 2024 Gen Z protests, is beginning to show results. The caucus also expressed gratitude to the President for shortlisting Gabriel Oguda, a well-known social media commentator, as a candidate for Principal Secretary. Oguda is among the 109 individuals shortlisted by the Public Service Commission for interviews.
Youth leader Philip Kai voiced strong support for Oguda, citing his past advocacy for youth empowerment and his leadership qualities. “Gabriel Oguda is a true champion for the youth and has shown resilience and dedication in his work,” said Kai.
The group called for even more young people to be appointed to government positions, urging the administration to stay true to its commitment to inclusivity. They expressed hope that Oguda would be nominated as a Principal Secretary, and pledged to work closely with the government to foster national growth.
