Lugulu Girls High School in Bungoma has finally received its long-awaited Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, much to the relief of students and parents who had been anxiously awaiting the outcome.
After two weeks of suspense, the school received its results on January 17, 2025, following reports that some had been withheld. A total of 676 students sat for the exams, with 13 achieving an impressive grade of A. In addition, 93 students earned an A-, and 191 scored B+.
Despite the excitement, 23 students from the school still have pending results, marked with a "Y," indicating that their results have been withheld due to concerns with one or more subjects. While most of the students eagerly celebrated their academic achievements on January 18, it was a bittersweet moment for those waiting for clarity on their results.
School principal, Dinnah Cheruiyot, praised the students' hard work and the dedication of their teachers, calling the results a true reflection of their efforts. She had previously assured parents and students that the school was addressing the withheld results through official channels with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
The school also boasted an impressive 99.41% transition rate, with only four students failing to meet the university entry grade of C+. This marks an improvement over the previous year’s performance, with the school showing a notable increase in mean grades from 9.328 to even higher success.
Education CS Julius Ombaga confirmed that 2,389 candidates nationwide had their results withheld due to suspected involvement in exam malpractices, adding further uncertainty to the situation.
Nevertheless, Lugulu Girls is celebrating a well-earned academic victory amidst the challenges, with students and staff looking forward to brighter futures.
