Parents Receive Evening Urgent Message Hours After KPSEA Results Were Released, Told to Do This

The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has issued a strong warning to Kenyans about fraudsters falsely claiming they can alter the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results.

In a statement on Wednesday, January 8, KNEC flagged a Telegram account operated by con artists who pretended to have access to the council's systems. These scammers alleged they could modify students' results for a fee, misleading unsuspecting victims into believing they had official authorization.

The fraudsters demanded significant bribes, promising quick changes to students' grades. One message from the scammers read: "If you are interested in grade changes and have the required amount, make sure we finalize the process before the day ends. Grade changing is instant now."

KNEC firmly dismissed these claims, calling the Telegram group a scam. The council emphasized that such social media accounts were created solely to exploit and defraud Kenyans.

This warning came shortly after KNEC officially released the 2024 KPSEA results. Students were encouraged to access their results through the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal. Schools with candidates for the assessment were also advised to log in to the portal to view learner-specific reports.

"Update! The 2024 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) reports are ready and have been uploaded on the CBA portal, http://cba.knec.ac.ke. Congratulations to all the 2024 KPSEA candidates," KNEC announced in a statement on Tuesday, January 7.

KNEC urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to these scams, reiterating that all examination results are securely managed and cannot be altered by unauthorized individuals.
