Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed his plans to convene a key meeting with Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Coalition officials, including members from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Jubilee parties.
This follows a significant High Court ruling that declared Azimio as the majority coalition in the National Assembly, overturning Speaker Moses Wetang'ula’s earlier declaration of Kenya Kwanza as the majority.
The court, in a landmark ruling, dismissed Wetang'ula's decision, describing it as a constitutional breach after he had admitted 14 Azimio members into Kenya Kwanza.
Speaking at a funeral service in Kitui County, Kalonzo shared that he had spoken with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta to plan the next steps.
A key meeting is set for Wednesday, where coalition leaders will align on the way forward and address roles in parliament according to the court’s verdict.
Kalonzo also criticized the Kenya Kwanza administration, calling the ruling a major embarrassment for its members and a reality check for former Azimio members who defected.
He especially called out former ODM politicians who joined President Ruto’s cabinet, hinting that some may soon face public humiliation due to the court’s decision.
