Dr. Peter Marks, the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) leading vaccine regulator, resigned from his position, an official from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) confirmed on Friday.
"If Peter Marks is unwilling to support the restoration of science to its highest standards and advocate for radical transparency, then he has no place at the FDA under the strong leadership of Secretary Kennedy," an HHS spokesperson stated.
A source familiar with the matter informed NBC News that Marks was effectively pushed out of his role.

In his resignation letter addressed to Acting FDA Commissioner Sara Brenner, Marks argued that undermining public confidence in vaccines is "irresponsible, harmful to public health, and a direct threat to our nation’s health, safety, and security."
Marks explained that he had initially been willing to work with Secretary Kennedy to address concerns regarding vaccine safety and transparency. However, he added, "It has become clear that truth and transparency are not priorities for the secretary. Instead, he seeks subservient confirmation of his misinformation and falsehoods."
