On Sunday, in Roysambu, Nairobi, journalists from Royal Media Services' Citizen TV were reportedly subjected to humiliation by a group of DCI officers while covering a protest near the Jesus Winner Ministry Church.
The incident unfolded as a large group of youths gathered in the area to protest, prompting a response from law enforcement.
According to eyewitness reports, the officers arrived at the scene and instructed the journalists to vacate the area. However, the reporters refused to comply, continuing to document the events despite the officers' orders.
In response, the officers allegedly resorted to force, attempting to physically remove the journalists. During the altercation, some of the equipment used for filming was reported to have been damaged.
Furthermore, it was claimed that the officers physically pushed the reporters, even resorting to kicking them.
Following the confrontation with the media personnel, the officers shifted their focus to the protesting youths, who had blocked a major road near the church. The authorities apprehended at least 39 individuals and transported them to a police station in Kiambu County for further processing.
