As reported by various media outlets, Collins Shitiabayi, a journalist for Citizen TV, was ambushed by a group of goons while on assignment in Trans Nzoia County. The attackers reportedly targeted the journalist to prevent him from covering a story related to a certain company.
Realizing that his security was at risk and that the goons had surrounded him, brandishing heavy sticks as though ready to strike, the journalist calmly stepped aside, moving slowly. During this tense moment, the hired goons stood watching him with hostile and unfriendly eyes.
After retreating a few steps, the journalist bolted, running for his life while calling for help. His frantic movements reportedly caught the attention of nearby residents, who quickly intervened.
As residents began arriving at the scene to assess the situation, one of the goons sprinted toward the journalist, snatched his mobile phone, and fled the area.
With assistance from the residents who had witnessed the incident, the goon was apprehended following a high-speed foot chase and was subsequently handed over to the police.
