On Sunday, former Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi said that he has now officially joined the opposition leaders. He said he wants to work with them to bring better leadership to the country.
“I have seen how this government is running things, and I believe it’s time to join hands with those who are fighting for the people,” Linturi said.
Linturi also accused President William Ruto of ignoring the needs and problems of ordinary Kenyans. He said the president is not listening to the cries of the people.
“Leaders who don't care about Kenyans should not be given power again in the next election,” Linturi added.
He also attacked the president for using his cabinet secretaries to insult opposition leaders. According to Linturi, the opposition is only trying to make life better for Kenyans.
“It is wrong for the government to use CSs to attack those who are speaking the truth. The opposition is only asking for fairness and justice,” he said.
However, soon after Linturi made the announcement, Kenyans on social media warned the opposition to be careful with him. The person said Linturi might be a spy sent to bring confusion.
“That man is a spy, be careful. He might be sent to destroy you from inside,” the post read.
At the same time, some political leaders questioned Linturi’s change of heart. They wondered why he is now speaking against the government he was part of.
“Why did he keep quiet when he was in office? Why speak now after leaving?” one leader asked.
